Easter Monday at ColorHotel
Easter Monday is perhaps one of the most relaxed days in the Italian calendar, one which we traditionally celebrate in the open air with family or friends.
Easter Monday in Italy
Making the most of spring temperatures, Italians spend Easter Monday with friends or family in the open air. The most common tradition is that of an ‘out-of-town trip’, a day spent immersed in nature, far from the city.
In many Italian cities and neighbourhoods, you’ll find a range of activities organised to celebrate this special day. Picnics, parties, concerts on the beach and in parks, and guided tours of castles and archaeological, historical and cultural places of interest are just some of the options on offer.
While most people know the day as Easter Monday, or ‘Pasquetta’ in Italian, officially the day that follows Easter Sunday is called ‘Monday of the Angel’, or ‘Lunedì dell’Angelo’. The day is dedicated to the memory of the angel that announced the resurrection of Christ to the women who arrived at his empty tomb. This holiday, established in Italy after the war to extend the Easter holidays, has become a public holiday in much of Europe, Canada and Australia. Easter Monday continues to be an opportunity to celebrate spring and share special times with our nearest and dearest.
Easter Monday at ColorHotel
And here at the ColorHotel, we also want to celebrate this special day and give our guests the chance to experience a traditional Italian Easter Monday! We’ll spend the day together, enjoying a guided excursion and a delicious picnic.
Here’s the line-up: at 9.30am, we leave the ColorHotel and set off on a rural walk through vineyards, olive groves and the wonderful countryside that surrounds Bardolino. The route takes us to the upper part of town, offering beautiful views and the opportunity to fully enjoy the first spring blooms.
Before we leave, make sure you’re wearing comfortable trainers, and have water, a hat and sunglasses with you. Accompanied by Giovanna, our Front Office Manager and hiking expert, and Laura, our personal trainer, we’ll set off along local roads and trails that are great for keeping fit but also for experiencing nature, which is at its best at this time of year. We’ll explore the area around Bardolino: Lake Garda and its surroundings hide a treasure trove of small agriturismi and cellars for wine and olive oil tastings – two typical regional products which we’d love you to try during your stay at Garda.
This is the map of the route that we take:
A gentle trail that’s accessible to everyone!
After our walk, we return to the hotel for a delicious picnic in the garden next to the Sunbay pool. In true Italian Easter Monday tradition, the ‘packed’ lunch will be on the lawn and will include delicacies prepared by our Chef Fabio and his team. The picnic is included in your booking, so there’s no need for you to do anything.
We hope we’ve tempted you to spend the day with us. Do drop us a line to book your stay – we’d love to celebrate Easter Monday together!
