"Rocca di Garda”: a wonderful view and a queen to be rescued!

Who loves Lake Garda surely has been up there once!

You find this upland between Bardolino and Garda. It is a place with its own charm, both for the wonderful panorama overlooking the lake and for its legendary history.

Thanks to its strategic position dominating over the lake, the place was chosen by the Langobards to build the castle in which Queen Adelaide of Italy in 951 was kept prisoner by Berengario II, the King of Italy at the time.

The story goes, that that a monk and a fisherman managed to let her escape from her cell in the Rocca through tunnels carved in the rock. This brave plan allowed her to flee and later to defeat King Berengario. Today there ‘s nothing left to see of the castle apart some very modest traces but what remais through time is the legendary charm and the myth of the brave Queen.

In order to enjoy the Majestic view from the Rocca, we accompany you during an excusion that last about a couple of hours starting from Bardolino. It’s an easy-medium trekking of about 10 km with some uphill stretches.
